Atlanta Tennis Championships 2011

This outstanding event – held at the Racquet Club of the South from July 16 through July 24 – was won by returning champion Mardy Fish over returning finalist John Isner 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-2. I volunteered as a scorekeeper/court monitor at the event and chronicled Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4 in addition to the finals on this Atlanta Tennis blog.

At the time of this writing, it is unclear whether the Atlanta Tennis Championships will return in 2012 to the site of its inaugural event, the Atlanta Athletic Club, which declined to host this year’s event because of the 93rd PGA Championship 2011 (August 8-14), or not. While the AAC has a bigger facility with on-site parking, the RCS is a more intimate location.

Either way, I’m looking forward to next year’s event, as a volunteer and spectator!
